At first, GAPKI only have 23 plantation companies as members comprising government-owned plantations (SOE), a private-owned plantation company and a foreign national, as well as oil palm farmers who are members of cooperatives. Today, the importance of palm oil for the country`s economy to manage the organization urged GAPKI professional and effective manner to increase its contribution to regional and national economic development. GAPKI has made various efforts to promote Indonesian palm oil industry. GAPKI as government partners have provided input as an ingredient in formulating government policies related to the palm oil industry. With this partnership together GAPKI government will continue to work to improve the competitiveness of Indonesian palm oil business in the international market. In addition GAPKI also carry out a strategic vision to build Indonesia`s palm oil industry sustainable.

About Us
Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) or the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (IPOA) was established on February 27, 1981 because the palm oil businessmen are aware that they should be united in one organization and the emergence of new palm oil industry corporation. At the beginning of the establishment of the organization, GAPKI consists of two parts, General (Management) and Technical Commission. GAPKI first Chairman (Executive Committee) are Manap Nasution chairman who oversees three areas, three secretaries, two treasurers and a commissioner. While the Technical Commission, which is responsible for assisting the Board to formulate a work program, tabulating problems faced by the oil industry and provide input to the development of the oil industry, which is chaired by Mohd. Yahya Rowter, MA.

Currently, membership GAPKI already become 644 plantations, with 21 members of the Center, 79 members of the Branch North Sumatra, 19 members of the Branch of West Sumatra, 29 members of the Branch Jambi, 76 members of the Branch Riau, 60 members of the Branch South Sumatra, 48 members of the Branch West Kalimantan, 89 Branch member of Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan Branch 47 members, 123 members of the Branch East Kalimantan, Sulawesi Branch 11 members, 6 members of Branch 36 member Branches Bengkulu and Aceh.
