Irrigation Australia Limited is Australia’s peak national organisation representing the Australian irrigation industry in all sectors of the industry, from water users, consultants, designers and installers through to educational institutions, government, manufacturers and retailers.

IAL is also the Australian representative body of the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID). ICID was established in 1950 as a non-profit, non-governmental international organization with headquarters in New Delhi, India.
IAL has been active in the areas of education and certification, being a major advocate for recognising and building on the skills of those working in the irrigation industry. It also has a major voice at Federal policy level, working closely with the National Water Commission, the Australia Water Association, Water Services Association of Australia and other stakeholder groups.
The annual Irrigation Australia Conference and Trade Show offers seminars on essential irrigation topics with key speakers from government, agriculture, and horticulture, as well as environmental and landscape industries. The future trends in water supply and irrigation is demonstrated at this internationally recognised Conference.
In June 2012 Irrigation Australia Limited hosted the largest irrigation event ever to be held in Australia at the Adelaide Convention Centre in South Australia. The 2012 Conference saw the gathering of the International Executive Council for the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID), alongside Irrigation Australia’s own annual Conference and Trade Show over three days, in conjunction with the 7th ICID Asian Regional Conference. IAL produces a number of publications including its flagship – Irrigation Australia Journal, the leading quarterly industry publication covering irrigation issues in Australia and their monthly E-newsletter.
The IAL was formed in September 2007 with the amalgamation of two well established Australian irrigation groups, the Irrigation Association of Australia (IAA) and the Australian National Committee on Irrigation and Drainage (ANCID).
