About Us
Managing Director Derek Johnston founded Johnston Farm Equipment in September 1983 and first started trading from premises in Kenagh, Co Longford. In June 1985 the company moved to new promises at an eight acre site on the Athlone Road in Longford.
Since then the business has expanded to include a number of quality agricultural equipment franchises, having established an ever increasing customer base in the centre and north of the country covering Longford, Roscommon, Westrneath, Sligo and Leitrim.
'The business has been built on the basis of good, reliable parts and service support, the results of which can be seen today,' says Derek Johnston. 'We have striven from the start to provide our customers with top class, top of the range, quality products'.
With this in mind we took a major step forward by acquiring the prestigious John Deere tractor and farm machinery franchise in May 1998. As the world's largest manufacturer of agricultural machinery, John Deere has a well-deserved reputation for product quality and performance, as well as excellent customer support. In addition the company has acquired a number of exclusive distribution franchises for all Ireland in particular Bury sprayers and Hackett chain harrows.
The company has always recognized the need for a constant supply of good used equipment and to this end always has in stock a large variety of machinery fully refurbished and ready for work.
'The business has been built on the basis of good, reliable parts and service support, the results of which can be seen today,' says Derek Johnston. 'We have striven from the start to provide our customers with top class, top of the range, quality products'.
