The Kent brand has been rooted in America’s heartland since 1927. Originating in the Central-Iowa farming community of Indianola, Gage Kent revolutionized the cattle feeding industry with the first “Feed Without a Filler” formula. This advancement set new industry standards and catapulted the Kent brand into the true leader amongst feed companies. With a devoted focus on innovation, high-quality nutrition and superior ingredients, the Kent brand grew throughout the entire Midwest.

Today, more than 85 years later, from generations to generations, this dedication continues. With a 60-acre research facility outside Muscatine, Iowa, and a team of industry leading nutritionists, the Kent family continues to pioneer new ways to feed America’s livestock.

The Kent brand’s primary focus has always been commercial livestock. Today, we are sharpening that focus to meet the needs a changing industry. With nutritional advances, formulation improvements and expert consulting, we’re again setting new standards in commercial livestock nutrition.

We are proud of our heritage and honored to partner with our dealers and producers to continue to provide the best feeding solutions across the country.

The Kent Feeds story began in 1927 in the central Iowa farming community of Indianola. It was there that Gage Kent started manufacturing Kent Baby Beef™, the original “Feed Without A Filler.”

With the introduction of this new feed, Kent revolutionized the cattle feeding industry. Before Baby Beef™, most cattle feeds were formulated with little regard for nutritional needs. Kent Baby Beef™ was manufactured with only top-quality ingredients and no filler materials, setting a new standard for the industry.

Kent’s feed mill flourished in Indianola and, in 1936, he moved his steadily growing company to Muscatine, Iowa, to take advantage of economical Mississippi River transportation.

Over the years, Kent Feeds continued to expand its product offerings with new swine, beef, dairy, poultry, specialty and pet products. As the market for Kent Feeds products continued to grow, additional Kent plants were built to meet the demand. Today, Kent Feeds operates plants in Sioux City, Iowa; Waterloo, Iowa; Rockford, Illinois; Altoona, Iowa; Beardstown, Illinois; Marshall, Missouri; Logansport, Indiana; Columbus, Nebraska; and Mason, Michigan.

In 1955, Kent Feeds purchased the first acres for what is now a 650-acre Product Development Center complex a few miles from Muscatine, along the Mississippi River.

At this facility, feeding trials are conducted to evaluate feed ingredients and new feed formulations to improve animal feeding efficiency. Through research, “The Feed Without A Filler” has grown into a complete line of guaranteed products which can be found throughout the Midwest and beyond.

Today, 87 years later, the Kent brand continues to thrive as a leader in the research, development and manufacturing of animal nutrition products. A subsidiary of Kent Corporation, Kent Nutrition Group remains part of a family owned network of companies including Grain Processing Corporation and Kent Pet Group of Muscatine, Iowa, and Kent Precision Foods Group, of St. Louis, Missouri.
