Sam Madill founded the business that now bears his name at Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada in 1911 while working as a blacksmith serving the local coal mining industry.

A complete logging product line including cable swing yarders and heel boom log loaders was designed in the 1970`s through to the mid 1980`s. In 1977 an additional plant was built in Kalama, Washington, U.S.A. to meet production requirements. By the 1980`s the company had become known worldwide as industry leaders in forestry equipment and controlled the bulk of the worldwide `over 200hp` cable yarder market.

Today, the Madill brand of logging equipment is designed with experience developed from manufacturing over 4,000 machines over a 60 year period.
