North German plant breeding Hans-Georg Lembke KG - NPZ
The headquarters of the North German Plant Breeding Company Hans-Georg Lembke KG (NPZ) is located in Hohenlieth (Holtsee municipality) near Eckernförde in Schleswig-Holstein. The founding location, today a branch, is on the island of Poel in Malchow near Wismar in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania. At the Hohenlieth site, NPZ employs over 130 people. In the high season in summer, they are supported by around 120 more temporary workers. An agricultural area of approx. 130 ha is cultivated. In addition, a good 100 ha of breeding garden areas are leased as part of crop rotation. There are usage agreements with neighboring farms for additional areas. In Malchow on the island of Poel, 90 employees work at NPZ, who are supported by around 30 temporary workers in the summer months during the season. Seed breeding cultivates an area of 426 ha, divided into eight crop rotations, each with five to ten crop rotation links.
