About Us
Covering the major dairy farming areas from Central Scotland all the way down the UK to Cornwall, our main business is the manufacture and supply of ruminant compound feeds and blends, supported by a comprehensive Trading Desk supplying a range of straights and speciality feeds, forage seeds and additives.
Our aim is to deliver our customers the best possible product range in the market place, at the least possible cost in terms of production and logistics, backed up by the expertise and service of the highest quality.
This successful approach has seen our feed output increase from 50,000 to 500,000 tonnes per annum in the last ten years. The mill at Wardle, the largest specialist ruminant feed mill in the UK, was opened in 1980, and produced its one millionth tonne in March 1998. The two millionth tonne was produced in July 2003.
In 2004, NWF acquired JGW Thomas, a successful compound business in Devon. Since then, we have produced our three millionth tonne in October 2005 and the four millionth tonne was produced in January 2008. This remarkable growth rate is testament to our products, our team and the loyalty of our customers.
In addition to our compound mills we operate four blending sheds were we manufacture a wide range of blended feeds. The blend sheds are located strategically across our trading area to minimise transport and maximise service efficiency.
The emphasis in the business is cost control. The Wardle Mill runs seven days a week to optimise usage and keep up with demand. As a consequence of this, our production costs have been halved over time and are among the lowest in the industry, and we pass these efficiency savings onto our customers.
To support our customers, to provide them with outstanding levels of technical supportand ensure they derive maximum value from their feeds we have created and continue to invest in one of the most comprehensive ranges of technical expertise in the industry, all freely available as part of the NWF service. Our Feed Specialists are highly trained and have access to a comprehensive range of services to help deliver value to our customers.
Whatever the size and scale of your ruminant farming enterprises, our friendly, professional approach and high quality feed will ensure that your livestock perform to their potential.
