Officine Mingozzi has been involved in the construction, experimentation and expansion of the application fields of fireweeding technology since the mid-1980s, producing equipment that is marketed under the Tecnoeconomia brand. The constant collaboration with various universities and study centers has led over the years to a better knowledge of the effects of the application of fire weeding on land and green areas.
Let`s talk about... fire weeding
The technique of weed control by fire was born and developed in the United States where, in the year 1852, John Craig. of Columbia, Arkansas, used a specially patented fire weeding device for the first time.
The development of fire weeding equipment and the definition of the methodology for their use became popular only in the early 1940s /50s.
This new method, unfortunately, was not accepted by most farmers due to its high costs.
Until 1943 all burners had in common the type of fuel which could be petrol or oil ; the situation changed radically when large quantities of liquefied petroleum gas ( LPG ) became available at significantly lower costs.
In 1947, the design and construction of equipment using butane gas was achieved , equipped with burners capable of producing a flame of stable shape and size.
These innovations immediately met with general approval and already in 1964 it was estimated that more than 15,000 of these devices were in use in the United States alone.
Analyzing the research that developed in Europe, it can be seen that it followed the American research hand in hand.
In fact, in England and Holland, in the mid-1950s , equipment that used oil as fuel was used. Subsequently, equipment that used liquefied gas was created: of these, over twenty were in use in Holland (especially for defoliation in the pre-harvest phase) in both seed and consumption potato crops .
Officine Mingozzi has been involved in the construction , experimentation and expansion of the application fields of fireweeding technology since the mid-1980s, producing equipment that is marketed under the Tecnoeconomia brand .
The constant collaboration with various universities and study centers has led over the years to a better knowledge of the effects of the application of this technology both for the control of weeds and in phytopathological control.
