About Us
at the age of 14 I bought my first tractor, a 1942 Standard Fordson. It was then when I started dealing in a few tractor parts, leading on to tractors and machinery.
Leaving school I had an apprenticeship as an electrician. Working nights and weekends building up the tractor and machinery business in a very small yard behind my mother’s cottage. Hauling machinery behind a Fordson Major Tractor and in 1987 purchasing my first lorry a Ford D Series 7 ½ Ton.
In 1991 I purchased a 4 acre field at the side of my mothers cottage and named it Langley Farm. Over time, I started to put up buildings and slowly turned it into a machinery yard.
I Married Estelle in 1994. We had planning permission granted for a mobile home at Langley Farm for 5 years. Between 1996 and 2007 we had our children, George and Harry, Alice and William. After finally achieving planning permission we built our house in 1999 and our daughter Alice was born at home soon afterwards. The children are often seen over the Yard and at the shows we attend.
In 1998 my father-in-law, Derek, joined the company to take on the Parts Stores and taking our stall to tractor events and rallies.
As a child I was always fascinated by steam engines and was determined that one day I would own one! In 1998 I had my first taste when I purchased a 1918 Garrett 4CD 33091 showman’s tractor.
This engine I sold in 2001 to fund a barn conversion, this being something else that I had always wanted to do! Having sold the barn in 2008 the purchase of the Burrell Showman’s Engine 3555 ‘The Busy Bee’ arrived just in time for my 40th birthday!
Followed in the same year by a Burrell 7hp Single Cylinder Traction Engine of 1899 Works No. 2159. This engine is currently stripped down for a major overhaul. We are proud to be a family-run business and we look forward to seeing you in our yard or at one of the many shows we attend in the near future.
