PlantTape is an agtech company specializing in precision agriculture technologies, based in California's Salinas Valley. The company focuses on developing and implementing automated transplanting systems aimed at improving crop yield and reducing production costs for vegetable, tomato, and hemp growers. PlantTape’s journey began when it was first discovered during a seed trial in Salinas, which later led to its acquisition by Tanimura & Antle in 2014. PlantTape has gone through several phases of research, development, and expansion, culminating in the commercial introduction of its systems in 2017. This innovation allows for significant improvements in greenhouse output, plant density, and reduction in growing cycles. With the U.S. legalizing hemp production in 2019, PlantTape expanded its applications to hemp growers and commercial nurseries.
