PostHarvest Technologies
Our mission is to take on this global problem and the damage it causes the planet. PostHarvest Technologies has developed a product which can measure essential ripening gases and compounds at a micro level. By being able to measure and assess any changes at these micro levels, PostHarvest Technologies can predict when produce will ripen up to 9 months in advance. This system allows cool room operators to send out produce on time, every time – automating systems to create an ideal storage environment for fresh produce, with the aim of cutting down global cool room losses from 30% down to 5%. After winning five major international awards, grants and recognition PostHarvest is now undergoing mass production of its units to supply every major food operator in the world with its technology.

About us
PostHarvest arose from the vision of a cost-effective world-class training course in all things fresh produce and the food supply chain.
John Shannon, CEO of PostHarvest, grew up in clean green New Zealand, often picking fruit at his friend’s family farm in the summer holidays. He saw first-hand how much fresh produce would overripen in storage and be thrown away before it had the chance of being eaten.
It wasn’t until many years later that he found this issue wasn’t an isolated occurrence but the entire world was dealing with this problem. Nearly half of all fresh produce is lost before it even meets the markets globally. That produce is thrown into landfills, begins to rot, and creates methane. This creates a larger carbon footprint than the entire airline industry, costing our planet over $1 trillion dollars in losses each year.
