Schilling - Natural Olive Pit Powder

Pure, clean olive pit granules/flour is the result of a complex treatment process of olive oil production residues. To produce olive oil, the olive is always compressed as a whole, i.e. including the kernel. The de-oiled olive cake is then processed in a moist state by means of specialized machines. As part of a centrifugation process, olive pit fragments are separated from pulp and shell rests and subsequently cleaned mechanically, dried and screened based on their particle sizes. The result are light beige, nearly odorless granules without any dust and pulp residues. It can be cleaned further and transformed into high-grade flours and powders.

While the stone is crushed to obtain the seed, the wooden shell is a by-product consisting mainly of cellulose and lignin. We are specialized in transforming this shell into high-grade powders.

It comes from local sources within a maximum of 400kg and is diligently screened to comply with the highest quality standards. Avocado stone powder has a somewhat nutty flavor. Due to its relatively high oil content, it should be processed and consumed in a fresh state. Also, it has a pretty soft consistence and hence is used preferably in small grain sizes. The characteristic orange color makes it stand out from most fruit stone powders: it is a natural dye and can replace artificial pigments in numerous end products.

Apricot stones are usually crushed to obtain the seed for the production of apricot kernel oil. This oil is mainly used as a high-quality ingredient for cosmetic and food products. For our apricot stone powder we use exclusively fresh stones and therefore supply our powders preferably during and shortly after the harvesting season, i.e. from April to August. To be more precise, our raw material is the shell of the stone, with a minimum of oily remainders. This ensures a superior quality of our granules, i.e. consistent particle shape, color and a long shelf life.

As walnuts are rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, protein, B-vitamins and minerals (especially magnesium, manganese and potassium), they are grown in enormous volumes. The walnut production amounts to around 3.5 million tons per year with China being the largest producer. Significant quantities are grown in the United States, Romania, Mexico, Turkey, Iran and Spain.
