Semican

Semican

When Jacques Beauchesne founded Semican in 1982, the company’s operations centred on producing and conditioning cereal seed. With a steady increase in sales, it soon became clear that to ensure the company’s future, we would need to set ourselves apart from other markets and cereal seed suppliers in Quebec. We began that process by establishing and developing strong business relationships with researchers, plant breeders, partners and entrepreneurs at various governmental and private organizations. Becoming the exclusive distributor of Lallemand-Biotal products contributed greatly to the growth of the company, particularly with the arrival of highly effective silage inoculants containing an exclusive bacterial strain. The ongoing work in our Research Centre has enabled us to develop and sell exclusive, high-yield cereal varieties with outstanding agronomic traits. This approach has also proved successful for forage plants, leading to the development of our exclusive product line.
