SimTech Aitchison are supplying low-cost New Zealand machines to livestock farmers for predominant grassland use. It is a mark of the effectiveness of the system in a variety of conditions that the two areas with the greatest densities of these drills are Ireland and Corsica - opposite climatic extremes, in European terms. In New Zealand where extensive grassland management is the norm, quantities of vegetation tend to be modest than often is the case in Europe. In addition, they have millions of sheep to keep the grass cropped short when required. Thus the models developed for New Zealand use have limitations when used in the context of a more challenging volume of vegetation.
