SynPet Technologies has established a self-sustainable circular hub at the Port of Antwerp, leveraging extensive R&D experience from their Turkish demo plant. The facility focuses on recycling plastic waste that is challenging for conventional techniques like pyrolysis or gasification. The hub aims to scale up and optimize technologies to produce circular naphtha substitutes and renewable natural gas while ensuring adherence to industrial standards and circular economy goals. With the capacity to recycle approximately 250 kilotons of plastic waste annually, the project significantly reduces emissions, avoiding 204 to 303 kilotons of CO₂ emissions per year. The hub occupies a 78,000 m² parcel and is strategically positioned near steam cracker operators in the ARA region. A €300 million investment supports infrastructure, R&D, and personnel, creating over 150 new jobs.
