In 2002 with all the interest and the facts and figures behind him he started to look for a diversification away from just farming. With all the free time the robots had created it give him time to do more. Being the UK’s pioneer of robotic milking, various milking companies offered sales roles in their robotic divisions, but in 2003 Tim set up Tim Gibson Ltd, and became the first agent for the Lely Astronaut milking robot; to offer sales, installation and ongoing support. The business then was at the forefront of the new era of Milking with robots, a successful decade ensued putting the name of Tim Gibson firmly in the same context of robotic milking in the UK.
Nowadays Tim Gibson Ltd is a totally independent company offering impartial practical advice to farmers considering all types and makes of robot, together with help and supplies for farmers using them.
Tim now has a number of enterprises, including Tim Gibson Ltd based in Bedale, North Yorkshire and Garstang in Lancashire. Tim still farms at Crakehall near Bedale with around 200 cows on 350 acres and has also held roles within the wider dairy industry including NFU and Dairy UK in recent times.
