Strawberry Plants
Van-den-Elzen - Strawberry Tray Plant
Tray plants are mainly used for growing strawberries in glasshouses or on table tops. Tray plants are pre-programmed for production purposes. Trusses are evenly spread, which is an advantage compared to waiting bed plants.
Van-Den-Elzen - Minitray Plants
Minitray plants are mainly used for growing strawberries in glasshouses or on table tops. Minitray plants are pre-programmed for production purposes. Trusses are evenly spread, which is an advantage compared to waiting bed plants. Minitray plants are also capable of achieving a good start in hot summer conditions. Van den Elzen Plants only uses high-quality tips for our minitray plants. Depending on the variety and the purpose of the tips, it is cut in June, July or August and planted in the minitrays. The cultivation of minitray plants takes place both on outdoor tray fields and in greenhouses. The plants are packed and frozen in November and December, after which they are delivered from the end of December until the end of July.
Van-Den-Elzen - Waiting Bed Plants
Waiting bed plants are often used for outdoor production. The first strawberries can be picked some 60 days after planting. The size of the crown of waiting-bed plants is important: a bigger size plant contains more flower trusses and therefore gives more production. Heavy, medium or light waiting bed plants are used, depending on the cultivation purpose.
Van-Den-Elzen - Frigo Plants
Van den Elzen Plants produces frigo plants in grades A+ extra, A+ and A, with grade A often being graded into two different categories. The use of frigo plants depends on their grades; heavy plants (A+ extra) contain more flower trusses and thereby a higher production potential in the planting year. A+ plants already have a couple of flower trusses in the first year and frigo A plants yield sufficient production in the year after the year of planting.
Van-Den-Elzen - Fresh Bare Rooted Plants
Fresh bare rooted plants are planted immediately after lifting them. They serve to produce waiting bed plants. Fresh bare rooted plants can also be used directly for traditional cultivation. Fresh bare rooted plants are propagated from BM2 or BM5 mother plants. The fresh bare rooted plants are cut in July/August and are then planted or sold immediately. All our fresh bare rooted plants are CM quality.
Raspberry Plants
Van-Den-Elzen - Longcanes Raspberry Plant
Longcanes are mainly grown in tunnels and greenhouses. The longcane is grown in a substrate in order to optimally control the plant. With an even bud break after planting, laterals and flowers appear and will become fruit after pollination. In this way, the grower can accurately plan his harvest moment and yield.
Van-Den-Elzen - Plug Plants
Plug plants are grown from a raspberry cutting. This cutting is made from high quality own checked and tested mother material. The cuttings are cut from mid-March to mid-June from the mother bed. The cuttings are manually cut to a length of 4-5 cm and immediately freshly propagated on a paper plug in a warm greenhouse. The plants are graded once or twice to create a uniform end product. Depending on the season, the plants grow out in 4-6 weeks into a rooted uniform raspberry plug plant. This raspberry plug plant is delivered in the tray in a box.
