Discounted home composters for residents

A Hertfordshire local authority is giving residents the chance to purchase home composters at a discounted rate to encourage them to dispose of their kitchen and garden waste in an environmentally friendly way.

Broxbourne Borough Council is offering the composter units at £19 and also giving people who buy one, the opportunity to purchase a second one half price.

It is hoped that if a lot of residents take up this offer it will significantly reduce the amount of residual waste that is currently being sent to landfill.

The offer is available until March 2011 and is part of a Hertfordshire-wide initiative to get more households to compost their green waste.
