Carter DayCarter Day Trommel: High Capacity Screen Separator for Grain Processing

SHARE

The Carter Day Trommel is engineered as a high-capacity cylindrical screen separator adept at handling initial or rough cleaning processes across a range of free-flowing granular materials such as wheat, oats, rice, corn, and various seeds. The machine incorporates a shaftless cylinder with choices of a 36 or 50-inch diameter. Its design includes 4 to 5 cylinder sections featuring patented screen segments that offer diverse combinations of sifting and scalping to meet varied application needs. A fixed slope of either 2° or 6°, with the option for adjustable telescoping legs, facilitates proper material flow. The unique cylinder arrangement supports effective segregation with larger debris expelled at the cylinder's end while finer materials exit via screen sections. This trommel can be outfitted with an aspirator for enhanced capacity. The robust drum design utilizes angle iron stringers and rods, ensuring durability and resistance to fatigue. Additionally, it offers a variable speed drive, powered by a 5 or 7.5 hp motor, adjustable from 17 to 34 RPMs.

The Carter Day Trommel is a high capacity cylindrical screen separator used for initial or rough cleaning for virtually any scalping or cleaning need in processing wheat, oats, rice, corn, sunflower, barley, soybean, etc. and most other free flowing granular materials. It features a shaftless cylinder in either 36″ or 50″ diameter. The Trommel is available in 4 or 5 cylinder sections which are covered by patented screen segments. Cylinder screen arrangements provide multiple sift and/or scalp combinations. The slope is fixed at either 2° or 6° with optional adjustable telescoping legs.

Product is fed into the Trommel and is channeled into the rotating screened cylinder. Depending on the application, the cylinder sections can have segments which sift, scalp, or sift and scalp combinations. In sift/scalp operations, the sifting is performed in the first section(s) and scalping is performed in the later section(s). In all cases, the larger product is discharged from the end of the cylinder while the fines and scalped products are discharged throughout the cylinder screens. The Carter Day Trommel can also be fitted with a high capacity, low profile aspirator.

Drum Section Design

The modular design of the cylinder sections maintains structural integrity and fatigue resistance by using angle iron longitudinal stringers and rods for circumferential cross bracing. The unique cylinder design is supported by a stub shaft at the discharge end and three trunnion (no center shaft or bearing in the product flow).

Variable Speed Drive Design

Depending on application, either a 5 or 7.5 hp motor (1800 RPM) with variable speed adjustment from 17 to 34 RPMs.
