Colchicum Agrippinum
FromAvon Bulbs Ltd
Easy to grow, deep, moisture-retentive soil, these appear from their summer dormancy, denuded of leaves, to flower in the autumn-hence 'Naked Ladies'. A pointer to the end of summer, their bright flowers last incredibly well considering their apparent susceptibility, the leaves only properly appearing in the spring. Very different from the larger goblet shaped forms with the flowers open almost flat with broad pointed petals. Narrow, wavy-edged leaves less noticeable than their bigger cousins. These increase well in composted soil, in an open, sunny site. Most popular related searches

Planting Instructions
They need planting 3" deep, perhaps a little more for the bigger bulbs, and 6" apart. The smaller flowered forms will naturalise effectively, but the mower will have to be restrained until the leaves wither away (and they are poisonous to grazing animals).
