Fibre is chopped into 1.5 –5 cm size fibre and compressed into bales. Cut fibre is used in soil rehabilitation and bioengineering applications owing to its high moisture and air retention capability with more fibrous materials. This is used as substrate and also as mulch. Using cut fibre in hydro-seeding mixtures provides a better medium for seed germination. The coir fibre in the coir mulch provides structural stability to the hydro-mulch mix. General growth is based on the fast water absorption of coir-cut fibre.
