GF-Hatchery - Silver Nile Tilapia
The nile tilapia has a white lean meat with a firm texture with soft lamellae that slice easily. The fillet is juicy. The fish has a beautiful marbling, Tilapia produced in good conditions is a culinary chameleon that goes well with coriander and lime as well as with horseradish and browned butter. On the grill, it is a star, preferably fully grilled. Think of it as the new "cod", "perch" or "pikeperch". Quite simply a great fish.
Our fish comes from a farm in Skåne, but in nature it is a warm-water freshwater fish that is found in Africa and Asia. It`s a common food fish all over the globe - so you may have come across it before. We at Gårdsfisk breed fish in a different way. You can read more about this. This is because we did not want to compromise on the flavors, but also because it is the most environmentally friendly way to raise a fish. The silver nile tilapia are usually sold whole between 400 - 500 grams and in fillets (150 grams) fresh in fish counters. The fish grows well up to over 1kg.
