Fransgard - Model HZ-2300 -Grapple Tong
The HZ series of grapple tongs from Fransgård Maskinfabrik are designed to grab and move felled or freed logs out of forest areas with tongs. Our grapple tongs are very useful, for example, when the logs are lying shoulder to shoulder after a storm. The machine is efficient for fast moving of whole or cut logs. The flexible suspension of the grapple tongs make it possible to pull logs out of hard-to-reach areas, while the boom allows the logs to be stacked.
Fransgård's HZ grapple tongs are very robust and stable and are used in many places in the world. The sturdy base construction combined with brass bushings in all joints make the grapple tongs very durable and robust, so they can handle most tasks in the forest. HZ-2300 has an opening width of 2.3 m. If you need a smaller opening width, we can recommend our HZ-1500 with an opening width of 1.5 m.

Closing cylinder
Powerful double-acting cylinder ensures that the logs are held firmly.
Tongs
The specially designed tongs close past each other, providing a very stable tool.
Swing cylinder
The swing cylinder can rotate up to 43 degrees to either side and is a great help when loading the logs. When extracting long logs, it is IMPORTANT that this cylinder is set in the floating position.
Parallel bar
The solid parallel bar is safely positioned behind the large closing cylinder and is thus highly protected against external shocks and impacts. It ensures that the tongs close at the same time.
Sawtooth fittings
Fittings with sawteeth under the cross boom, ensure that the logs are held in the tongs during extension.
Support legs
The support legs are easily placed in the bracket and are always at hand when parking the tool.
Top bar attachment
The top bar attachment has both a fixed hole and elongated slot. The fixed hole is used for short logs, while the elongated slot can be used for long logs.
Guide arm
The 2 fixed guide rods in the middle of the arm ensure that short logs are kept in place during transport. If you are working with long logs, the ends of the logs must end before you get to the guide rods.
Cylinder attachment
The strong cylinder attachment with lubricating nipple ensures long life and a stable tong.
Storage box
The 3-point suspension is designed as a box for storing chains, etc.
Assembly bolts
All assembly bolts are greasable and galvanised.
Open
HZ-2300 can open up to 2300 mm.
Closed
The HZ-2300 can close the tongs so tightly that it can hold a log as small as 17 cm in diameter.
Bushing
All rotating points of the HZ-2300 are fitted with lubricatable bronze bushes, which give the tongs a very long service life on these points.
Chain fall
The 3-point suspension is fitted 2 chain falls; 1 at each lifting arm fitting. These allow you to have both long and short logs in the tongs at the same time.
