Moisio Moipu - Grapples for Excavators

The use of excavators for logging is very common around the world. Using an excavator for harvesting wood is quite profitable. An excavator can be used all year round even when soil preparation work or other contracting are paused. Moipu has a few grapple or tree shear models suitable for excavators with either knives cut or saw cuts.

Moipu tree shear combines operational reliability with low operating and maintenance costs, thanks to its strong structure and simple operating logic.  Moipu tree shears are suitable for demanding professional tree felling, from thinning to problem wood removal, depending on the shear model.

The options suitable for installation on excavator differ from each other. The biggest difference between the tree shears and grapples is the installation method; Some of the models have fixed installation in the excavation beam of the excavator, while others are installed with the help of an extension boom i.e. hanging installation.

Installing the grapple on the excavator
It is important that the excavators crane can lift the grapple and the weight of the wood so that the stability of the machine remains good, even if the grapple is used at the maximum reach of the boom. Another important point is that the excavator`s oil output/flow is at a sufficient level for the grapple to perform at its best.

When installing on an excavator, the grapple must be added to the excavator with the grapple open / grapple closed. There are options for controlling the grapple according to the grapple`s operating logic. The EFI grapple works without electricity with the grapple open/grapple closed on the lines, the RC grapples work with radio control and the 300F1 needs a control system, for example Moipu Control.
