Sampling
- The hoop is thrown randomly over the area to be tested. Its round shape limits the influence of linear sowing on the sample taken, making it more reliable.
- The hoop, suspended on the ears, is lowered down over the cereal by the operator.
- A lasso is used to tie a mini-sheaf of cereal.
Gathering the sample
The operator grasps the mini-sheaf in one hand. With the other hand, using the hedge clipper, he cuts the straw to leave mainly the ears which drop into the threshing kit hopper.
Threshing
The ears are quickly threshed by the minibatt, a tried and tested device.
The grains from the sample are collected directly in the pot.
Quantifying
The pot is transferred to the multitest which immediately displays the yield in cwt/ha with the specific weight.
