Horta-Sorb - Model LG -Absorbents
Horta-Sorb water management gel polymers are substances that absorb hundreds of times their weight in water. The water absorbed is nearly all available to the plants. Gel use results in managing watering in the root zone of the plant, significantly reducing watering maintenance and providing for a more constant supply of water to the roots. Horta-Sorb® polymers have been used in many areas in horticulture and agriculture for nearly two decades now. Initially accepted as a bare root dip in forestry, their use quickly spread to landscape, greenhouse, nursery and numerous agricultural markets. Horta-Sorb® use ranges from bare root gels to hydro-mulching, and transplant amendments to “ice packs” for cut flower and fresh fish shipments. CUTS WATERING BY AS MUCH AS 50%.

Application rate: 2 lbs. per cubic yard of mix. For use with 3 gallon and larger containers.

- Horta-Sorb® LG (2.0mm to 4.0mm) use when planting trees and shrubs. Mix Horta-Sorb® LG, 1 oz. per one-inch caliper tree or foot diameter of ball. Add to top 2/3 of hole after back fill.
- Add the Horta-Sorb® LG at the time of potting up the plants at the rate of ½ to 2 lbs. per cubic yard depending on how much water you want to hold.
Turf: Use 1 lb. per 2,500 sq. ft. with 50 gallons of water applied with tank sprayer, or hose end applicator.
Sodding: Use 1 lb. per 2,500 sq. ft. with 25 gallons of water.
Soil Injection: Inject ½ gallon using a 2 ½ ft. grid pattern 6“- 8” deep.
Hydroseeding: Use 4 lbs. per acre added to tank.
Foliar Application: Use 1 lb. per 1,000 sq. ft. mixed with 50 gallons of water till
runoff.
Established Trees: Use 1 lb. per 50 gallons of water. Apply one gallon per inch caliper, 16 oz. per gallon size transplant.
