GeoPrecision - Model SDI12 Sensor - Matric Potential & Soil Temperature pF-Meter
The new measerment procedure of the pF- meter is based on the registration of the volumetric heat capacity. A ceramic membran get in balance with the soil tensions. Inside the ceramic membran a special sensor measure continuously the water content, witch is adapted to the hydraulic potential. hereby the matrix potential can be measured active and directly, like a conventionally water filled tensiometer.

The pF-meter delivers digital data either in pF-value or in mbar (hPa). The modern, digital SDI12-concept prevents measurement errors so that cable lengths up to 50 m are applicable.
Measurement networks with up to 24 pF-meters are realisable in connection with the network-compatible GPRS logger from GeoPrecision (i-log).
