- Climate : Optimum temperature range for good crop is 25 to 35* C. In summer & rainy season crop growth will be more vigorous compared to winter season.
- Season : Varies widely from state to state within India. But Jan to Feb and April to June are the major sowing seasons.
- Seed : 2 - 3 kg per acre depending on spacing.
- Spacing : In light soils 80 cm between rows and 30 cm between plants while 100 cm between rows and 45 cm between plants recommended in heavier soils.
- Manures & Fertilizers
- 8 to 10 tons of FYM per acre has to be incorporated into the soil before sowing.
- Green manuring crops before the main crop of okra is also desirable.
- Basal Dose: 100 kg of DAP + 65 kg of MOP
- First Top Dressing 30 DAS: 50 kg Urea + 50 kg MOP per acre.
- Second Top Dressing 60 DAS: 50 kg Urea + 50 kg MOP per acre.
- In light / low fertile soils apply third top dressing.
- A micro nutrient spray is recommended at the time of flowering.
- Irrigation : Irrigation once in 3 to 4 days in light soils and 6 to76 days in heavy soils is recommended.
