Salmon Eggs

SHARE

Today’s Atlantic salmon products are based on the collection of varied and representative genetic material from 41 salmon rivers in the period from 1971-1974. Through the years of continuing development work a genetic material has been created which is suited to today’s standards for producers and consumers.

In the breeding nucleus we have 600 families which give a broad basis for the selection of breeding fish for production of quality eggs for the market. Family-based breeding work, QTL- and genomic selection are the foundation for being able to offer a fish which grows fast, is vital, robust, and has a fine colour and shape. This is achieved through the systematic measurement of more than 20 traits of about 100 000 fish in each generation. Each egg batch is fully traceable and documented.
