Shaphir for Fertigation in Greenhouses
From Shaphir Solutions
Compound liquid fertilizer: contains nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K) and micro-elements. Composition: According to the required N:P:K relationship (see tables).
Chemical Composition
- Nitrogen: The sources of nitrogen are ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate and mono ammonium phosphate (MAP).
- Phosphorus: The sources of phosphorus are mono-ammonium-phosphate (MAP), phosphoric acid and mono potassium phosphate (MKP)
- Potassium: The sources of potassium are potassium nitrate and mono-potassiumphosphate (MKP)
- Microelements: The sources of microelements are iron, manganese, zinc, copper and molybdenum chelates
- Chemical Formula NH4N03 + KN03 + NH4H2P04 + H3P04 + KH2P04 + microelements
- Specific Weight (weight / volume) Is a function of the solution’s composition (see tables).
Product Details
- pH: Slightly acid solution (pH 3.5 - 4.0)
- Colour: Clear solutions yellow to greenish colour.
- Corrosivity: Moderately corrosive. Shaphir solutions corrode iron but do not attack stainless steel.
- Storage: To be stored in plastic or stainless steel tanks for no more than 6 months.
- Microelements concentration: Standard Shaphir solutions carry 3% concentrated Microgat contributing 330 ppm iron (Fe), 140 ppm manganese (Mn), 46 ppm zinc (Zn), 15 ppm copper (Cu) and 12 ppm molybdenum (Mo).
- At the beginning of winter: Whenever the farmer keeps Shaphir solutions from the warm season (Summer) into the cold season (Winter), and in order to avoid its crystallization, it is recommended to dilute 5 parts of Shaphir with 1 part water.
- During the winter: Gat produces more dilute 'winter solutions' with no more than 85% concentration of the 'summer solutions'. Per example: Shaphir summer solution 7-3-7 becomes Shaphir 6-2.5-6 during the winter months and Shaphir summer solution 5-3-8 becomes Shaphir 4-2.5-6.5.
- Twenty percent more of these dilute solutions should be injected into the irrigation water as to apply the same quantity of nutrients to the crop.
Shaphir Solutions are Available:
- From 0% and up to 9% Microgat
- With Micro-Mix-Gat in various compositions and concentrations of microelements.
- With added magnesium (Mg) equivalent to 1% magnesium oxide ( 1 %MgO = 0.6% Mg). (When magnesium is added, the relationship ammonium / nitrate (NH4 / N03) changes slightly.
- For Shaphir solutions without microelements the required pH must be specified.
Shaphir plus solutions
Of the same N:P:K composition as standard Shaphir solutions – are prepared with Ferrogat Plus to be used on artificial media of pH above 7.5.
Applications
Shaphir solutions are quality fertilizers for protected crops, cultivation on artificial media and orchards. These solutions are not prepared from urea and are without chlorine (CI). They are preferably applied conjunctly with the irrigation water (fertigation).
Many field experiments have shown Shaphir solutions to be effective as foliar fertilizer at low concentration (1% – 2% – according to the solution’s composition see table) with added surfactant. Before applying Shaphir as a foliar spray the response of the crop should be tested on a few plants. If after a few days the foliage of the test plants shows no damage, the whole plot may be treated.
