Apogee - Model PAR -Solar PAR Sensor
A solar PAR sensor (Photosynthetically Active Radiation sensor) is a device that measures the amount of light in the PAR wavelength range (400–700 nanometers), which is the portion of the light spectrum used by plants for photosynthesis. PAR is the light energy (in micromoles of photons per square meter per second, or µmol/m²/s) that plants can use to photosynthesize. Unlike total solar radiation sensors (which measure all sunlight, including infrared and UV), a PAR sensor focuses only on the light relevant to plant growth. Most popular related searches

Application Why PAR Is Important
- Agriculture & crop modeling ................... Determines photosynthetic activity and optimal planting times
- Greenhouse management ...................... Optimizes artificial lighting and shading systems
- Forestry & ecological research ................ Tracks light availability in understory environments
- Climate and hydrological stations .......... Combines with other sensors for ecosystem productivity studies
- Aquatic ecosystems (e.g., wetlands) ....... Measures underwater PAR for submerged plant photosynthesis
