Typically, the problem with feeding hay bales outside is that when the first rainstorm comes along, the hay gets soaked. Unfortunately, wet hay is the perfect environment for dangerous mold to grow in. As horse lovers, that’s not a situation any of us want. It’s also a situation that our standard 8 1/2′ wide horse feeder roof prevents.
At Farmco, we believe dry hay is safe hay and that’s why most of our standard feeders for horses come with a roof. Built with a heavy-duty metal frame and 29-gauge steel panels, the roof on our horse hay feeders is made to last and designed to keep your horse’s hay dry and tasty.
Our standard horse hay feeders troughs are available in 6′, 8′, and 10′ options to hold hay bales as your horses feed. Upright bars around the perimeter of the feeder help to keep aggressive behavior to a minimum during feeding. One end of the feeder is a gate that swings open to allow round bales up to 5’ to be loaded directly from the tractor or skid loader. Fork pockets on the bottom let the feeder itself be easily moved with the same equipment.
