For over 86 years, Riesterer & Schnell Inc has remained family-owned by three generations.

Our company started with 3 entrepreneur’s during the great depression in 1931. With scare jobs and tight budgets, 3 men: Frank and John Riesterer and their fishing companion Henry Schnell pooled in all their resources and built a 20x20 foot building on the same land on which the Chilton location stands today.

In November 1931, we expanded and built a 26’x40’ repair shop. Consecutively, the company purchased a milk truck and John began a lengthy milk hauling Career.

In 1934, after Prohibition, the Riesterer & Schnell Family added the Cedar Creek Tavern to their growing business at the same location. The tavern operated from 1934-1979. Later the family also added a car dealership to the same sight.

Purchasing a 1939 Ford Ferguson Tractor franchise in 1939 was our first step into the farm equipment business. Later, New Holland farm equipment was added in 1948. When Ford tractors joined with New Holland in the 80’s, we remained a New Holland dealer for many years.

In 1960, Riesterer & Schnell officially became a John Deere dealer with the purchase of Chilton’s John Deere dealer, requiring further remodeling and expansion.
