PlantTape - Transplanting System Sowing Operations Services
The PlantTape Transplanting System initiates its process with the innovative sowing of seeds into a unique tape material, which utilizes peat-free soil. This process involves embedding customer-specified seeds into the PlantTape material. Post sowing, the material is segmented into strips, known as tapes, which are then systematically folded and placed into specially designed nursery trays. Each tray is configured to hold up to 840 seeds. These trays can be palletized, labeled, and either dispatched for immediate germination at commercial nurseries through hydration or stored dry until required for later planting operations. This preparatory step is instrumental in optimizing the efficiency and efficacy of large-scale nursery operations by simplifying the initial stages of plant growth and facilitating precision in the sowing process.
PlantTape receives a customer’s seed at one of our four sowing facilities, where we inventory it and store it in a secure, climate-controlled room until sowing.
A customer’s seeds are sown into the PlantTape material, using PEAT free soil. After the material is sown, it is cut into strips (i.e., “tape”), folded, and placed into nursery trays. Each PlantTape nursery tray holds 840 seeds.
PlantTape nursery trays are then palletized, wrapped and labeled for immediate delivery to a commercial nursery or farming operation, where nursery operators can initiate germination by introducing the sown PlantTape material to water or store the dry trays.
PlantTape has two United States sowing facilities, as well as one in Spain and one in the United Kingdom.
