Germinator - Model SG -Superior Growing Medium for Seedling Nurseries
Commercial seedling nursery growers produce seedlings with stronger and more fibrous roots when they use coco peat (Coir). Coco peat is used as a very good growing medium in seedling nurseries because of its high air filled porosity (honey comb structure of the fibre ) and high water holding capacity. This combination results in very high seed germination rates. Coco peat (Coir) is used as growing medium through out the world especially by the vegetable growers (tomato, egg plant, pepper, cucumber), cut flower growers (rose, chrysanthemum and carnation etc) and in orchards (strawberry and melons) to get more and high quality yield Cocopeat(Coir) has the ability to store and release nutrient to plants for extended periods of time. Therefore , comparatively less fertilizers are required.
It encourages strong and profuse root development. The germination rate is higher when we use cocopeat rather than tradition peat moss. 50% - 70% of cocopeat(Coir) can be included in the seedling mix to improve aeration and water holding capacity along with suitable liquid nutrients. It is advised to check the pH and EC of the mix prior to use.

Growing Bag is a long tubular bag that has growing media (like coco peat) filled in it. Small holes are made on the top at a distance of 30 to 40 cm, depending on the cultivator`s requirement. Fertigation is given through these holes using Inline Drip Irrigation system. 30- 45 mm long slits are made at the base of the Growing Bag in order to drain out excess water.
This system of growing crops is very efficient as it minimizes the chances of getting any disease through soil and enhances the productivity of the area and other inputs. This system can also be used on sloppy or undulating surfaces.
It is very important to constantly check the pH and EC of the growing media. Plant the crops once the EC of the run off is at the required level and manage the crop according to requirements. Add suitable liquid nutrients to the plants regularly (depends upon the environmental conditions and phase of growth).
Cocopeat(Coir) Grow Bags are widely used in hydroponic industry. It is very good alternative to traditional peat moss and rock wool.
The Cocopeat-Coir grow bags can be used up to 3 years.
