SHARE

A standard installation has a green hydrogen production volume of 30 kg per hour. Depending on the amount of hydrogen required, it is possible to carry out a project with several standard units. In addition, everything is prepared to be able to realize a project with a 10 x larger hydrogen production, so 300 kg per hour. This is a type of project that fits a central hydrogen introduction point in a network or an industrial project at a large hydrogen user.

Plot

When a project contains all facets of the process, ie from the biomass supply to a filling station for hydrogen supply, a surface area of around 2,000 m² is required. When the hydrogen is discharged at a transport pressure of 8 bar for an application in industry or, for example, to a point in the vicinity where it is pressurized, a plot of around 2,000 m² is sufficient. These are indications that may vary from location to location.

Biomass

The biomass will have to meet the sustainability criteria of the NTA8080

Depending on the composition of the biomass, a standard project requires an hourly input with an energy content of around 3 MWh, which corresponds indicatively to approximately 900 kg of biomass, depending on the type of biomass, the energy content and the moisture content. The quality of the biomass will be directly related to the quality of the biochar and its sales potential, but will not affect the quality of hydrogen.

Hynoca process

In the Hynoca process, use can be made of biomass which has a so-called “waste” status. This can be in alphabetical order:

  • Certain types of industrial waste
  • Cell wall residue from algae/weeds
  • digestate from digesters
  • Woody waste streams
  • Praise of flower bulbs or greenhouse cultivation
  • Mows from verges or ditches
  • Sugar beet/potato pulp
  • Sewage Sewage Sludge
  • Scrap of soybeans
  • Ditch side / reed clippings
  • Stems/foliage of fruits and vegetables
  • Straw/chaff from grains
