Demonstration Trials of the Utilisation of Composted Materials in the Maintenance of Sports and Amenity Turfgrass - ORG0027 final report
Courtesy of The Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP)
WRAP (The Waste and Resources Action Programme) was established in 2000 with the primary aim of creating stable and efficient markets for recycled materials and products. Within WRAP’s Organics Programme, the overall aim is to increase the manufacture and purchase of quality compost through capital funding, marketing, training, quality assurance as well as research and development. It has been recognised that a potential market for quality composted materials is within the maintenance of sports and amenity turf. Composted materials derived from garden waste have the potential for use as soil conditioner and fertiliser products, but the potential benefits have yet to be scientifically investigated. To address this situation a number of field trials were undertaken to assess the potential benefits of compost application to sports and amenity turf.
